On August 7, 2024, a 67-year-old woman was rushed to a nearby hospital after a near-fatal three-wheel motorcycle crash in Paradise Hills.
According to San Diego Police Officer John Buttle, the woman was speeding when her three-wheeled motorcycle struck a parked vehicle in the 6000 block of Parkside Avenue in the Paradise Hills neighborhood.
After she failed to negotiate a bend in the road and struck the vehicle, she was taken to a hospital where she was treated for an open fracture to her right wrist and right femur and a spinal fracture, the officer said.
Excessive speed is a factor in about a third of the fatal car crashes in San Diego. Velocity increases the risk of a wreck and the force of a collision.
Such accidents are especially common in Paradise Hills, a neighborhood that’s roughly defined as the area east of Rachael Avenue (the boundary between San Diego and National City), south of Paradise Valley Road (a boundary with another San Diego neighborhood, Bay Terraces), north of State Route 54 (a boundary between San Diego and Bonita), and west of Dusk Drive and Potomac Street (another boundary with Bay Terraces).
Although it is a relatively safe area, Paradise Hills has long been associated with street gang activity and other illegal activity.
