Pedestrian Crash Injuries Prove Too Much for 83-Year-Old Man

Oceanside, CA

The victim, who was rushed to a local hospital, survived for one week following a pedestrian collision, and then unfortunately passed away, in Oceanside that happened on July 29, 2024.

The collision occurred last Monday around 7:31 a.m. at the intersection of Rancho Del Oro Drive and Via Rancho, Heather Mitchell with the Oceanside Police Department said in a news release.

The victim was crossing the street outside of the marked pedestrian crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old Oceanside resident, according to authorities. The victim was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, cooperated with police, and was not arrested, nor are there any charges pending, authorities said.

Even if pedestrians cross the street outside marked crosswalks and against the light, a San Diego personal injury lawyer can still obtain substantial compensation since California is a pure comparative fault state.

Oceanside, the most populous city in the North County region of San Diego, is a popular tourist destination owing to its historic landmarks, beaches, and architecture. The city is also known for its public artwork. The town post office contains an oil-on-canvas mural, Air Mail, painted in 1937 by Elsie Seeds. Federally commissioned murals were produced from 1934 to 1943 in the United States through the Section of Painting and Sculpture, later called the Section of Fine Arts, of the Treasury Department.
