San Diego-Based ICE Agent Pleads Not Guilty to Federal DUI Charges

In November 2024, an Immigration & Customs Enforcement/Homeland Security Investigations special agent was arraigned on criminal charges stemming from an alcohol-related wreck in Sunset Cliffs.

Court documents reveal that Randy Webb was over the legal limit when San Diego police officers evaluated him after the crash. Police records show the crash happened after 2 p.m. on a Sunday. Webb pleaded not guilty to two charges of driving under the influence in an arraignment filing.

A spokesperson for ICE confirmed Webb’s employment but would not confirm his current status. Instead, Homeland Security Investigations released a statement.

“The Office of Professional Responsibility upholds ICE’s professional standards through a multi-disciplinary approach of security, inspections, and investigations to promote organizational health, integrity, and accountability across the agency and has been notified of the incident.

This case is pending a criminal investigation by the San Diego Police Department…HSI is fully committed to enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against official misconduct and criminal activity, as well as pursuing those employees who violate the law, no matter their role or title.”

Sunset Cliffs is an almost entirely residential neighborhood that features curved contour-following streets and custom homes. A small commercial strip is found along the northern end of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. running into Ocean Beach.

The area may be best known for its sheer cliffs, which border the ocean, as well as the surfing spots below the cliffs. Cliffside trails are popular for walking and for watching the sunset but are undeveloped and can be dangerous. Falls from the cliffs have resulted in numerous deaths and serious injuries.
