Serious motorcycle crash in San Diego

A woman was critically injured after crashing her motorcycle in the Midway neighborhood of San Diego on October 8, 2024.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the 33-year-old rider was traveling eastbound in the 3100 block of Midway Drive around 8:30 p.m. on a 2013 Honda Repsol CBR 600RR when she struck a raised concrete center island in the roadway; the force of the impact threw her off the motorcycle.

The motorcycle then slid into the westbound lanes, colliding with a 2019 silver Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a 20-year-old man. It subsequently hit a 2018 gray Toyota RAV4 driven by a 32-year-old man. Fortunately, neither of the drivers in the vehicles sustained injuries.

The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries, including a collapsed lung, fractured collarbone, multiple rib fractures, and lacerations to her liver and spleen.

The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident, and officials have confirmed that DUI was not a factor in the crash.
